PostSubject: The Return of Athrun   Fri Sep 23, 2011 1:10 pm

((As some of you know I have not logged onto Athrun for around two weeks due to workloads and my wife. I'm pleased to say things have calmed down and Athrun will be making a return IC tonight. See below a short story on why he has been gone. See you tonight!))

The wind was crisp and fresh like a winter morning, the sun attempting to break through the thick clouding like light chasing shadow. The cold deep snow, easily defiant enough against the brief spots of light, stood as a testament to the harsh climate that was Northrend.

Only fools travelled along in the frozen wastes. Fools… and Scourge. Truth be told the Scourge had been dormant for many months after the defeat of Arthas; the ghouls, skeletons and massive flesh behemoths that once had protected the Dark Lord’s domain had since fallen to deep slumber, their bodies being reclaimed, so to speak, by the land itself.

Well… almost all.

Athrun stood alone on the border of Zul’Drak and Dragonblight, his dark ruined covered armour stood against the painful and cutting wind. Behind him was Zul’Drak – a base for the Trolls and Argent Crusade alike. And, in a small remote corner, the dead moved once more. Where their had once been silence and death now moved with a purpose.

The necropolis had been reclaimed, the dead had begun to rise once more and the Death Knights plotted and trained. Waiting for the word to advance on the living once more.

And yet the progress had been slow, the Death Knights undergoing training making little to no progress, in his eyes at least. Yes all the Death Knights were strong and yes they could wield their Runeblades. But each lacked the driving purpose, each had to much selfcontrol over their own will.

And that’s why he stood alone, lost in memory. Lost in time. Days had turned to weeks while his mind raced.

The third generation Death Knights had far too much control over themselves, to much freedom in voicing their own thoughts and views. Were once a simple command carried from the Lich King down to the Lich’s and senior Death Knights caused whole armies to move without question, now had turned into petty debates or disobedience over orders.

The Scourgelord and Athrun were second generation and knew full well how to obey and act, but teaching the third generation was trying on both. There were some that showed true promise. And some that would rather follow their own orders then that of the Scourge.

In one sudden movement Athrun drew his runeblade, the silver and black blade reflecting the sunlight that briefly touched the hilt. Closing his eyes he listened to the screams and demands of the souls within; souls like Christoph the True, and his own sister Louise Zala. There were many trapped within the blade, many that gave to his power against their own will.

The Scourge should be like the blade – obey commands without question or debate. A force to bring a dark utopia to Azeroth. And the time was perfect: both the Horde, Alliance and Argent Crusade were focused on defeating Death Wing.

Placing the runeblade once more upon his back he turned, dark cape swaying in the wind like a hand waving goodbye, and proceeded back to the Necropolis intent once more of moulding the other Death Knights into one unified weapon of the damned.

This land once belong to his King… and it shall once more be soon.
